O.k. this was one of those hard pieces for us to part with ..but with all things we had to make some choices ..and well ..we decided we would offer it to our wonderful Kindred Friends ..

We found this hidden away at a favorite haunt of ours ..and at first sight thought What an awesome box ..but to our exitement we found upon inspection that this box still retained some of the authentic Barbours' Irish Flax Linen thread inside ...

The Box is exquisite in it's own right ..in gorgeous Red, White and Blue graphics ...

To the outer edge of each box there are seals that represent, Philadelphia, Paris 1878, London 1862, Sydney 1879, Berlin 1817, and Vienna 1873.

In the center of the box is a Trademark ..a left hand palm turned in with the word FLAX written across it.

At the bottom of the top of the box ..I was unable to capture it in photos but it reads: Entered According to the Act of Congress in the year 1869 by Barbour Bros in the Clerk's Office of the Dist. Court of the South Dist. of N.Y.

The box is in unbelievable condition considering it's age ..of 100 yrs. +

It shows some minor wear throughout and one corner of the box lid has seperated but the box bottom is just fine.

At one end of the box the orig label is still intact and reads:

Linen Thread

White No. 50

3 cord 200 yards

Inside the box you will find a portion of the original paperwork that has made it through generations.

Also 5 of the original Wood Bobbins with their original labels and flax linen thread are still within the box.

This is by far a most Rare and Unique Find ...and would be a most wonderful addition for the Serious Collector.

The box measures: 9.25in. L x 3.25in. W x 2.25in. T

This little Antique shoe Pin Cushion we happened upon and it tugged at our hearts until we just had to get it.

It's such a rarity to find these sweet early pieces and the charm that this one has is above and beyond.

This little shoe is made from leather and has the sweetest design from the pin dot design at the toe ..to the sweet cotton trim that surrounds the opening and creates a bow in the front.

The Cushion is made from an early brown velvet..and appears to be filled with sawdust.

The Pins we have added ...for your pleasure.

The shoe measures: 5.5 inches long x 2 inches tall x 2 inches wide.

Early Work Crazy Quilt Heart Sewing Keep

A Sweet Magnolias Farm ..Original Design ..this Crazy Quilt Heart Sewing Keep ..is reminiscent of earlier times.

Reminiscing earlier days ..when life was simple ..and the sewing was fine ...

This ever so Beautiful Heart Shaped Sewing keep has been created with an authentic early crazy quilt that we aquired at an estate sale.

In the top left corner ..a vintage piece of lace with a simple metal estate find ..holds an early wood spool of thread.

In the top right corner ..a felted wool heart with a smocking stitch around the edges makes a delightful pin cushion ..filled with old fashioned sawdust ..and embellishing it ..is 3 Heart pins that we hand fashioned and hand molded from clay ..

The bottom half of the heart has a blue check homespun pocket filled to the brim with sewing notions ..an old darner with the name Mary Louise Alcott and the year 1882 painted on it ..a brown paper package of vintage buttons ..vintage lace draped over the pocket and a safety pin full of vintage buttons pinned to the front.

The Entire heart is trimmed in old fashioned crochet lace trim ..that we found along our travels ...and adds to it's wonderful early charm.

This sewing keep is generous in size and measures: 18.5 inches long x 17 inches wide.

The back has a sturdy hanger ..and can be hung with ease.

Please Keep in mind this offering is a One of a Kind ..It is made with Vintage finds ..and cannot be re-created in the same fashion.

Antique Glass Bottle Pin Cushion

Our Glass Bottle Pin Cushion is a Fun Make-Do piece. Made from an antique Brown Glass medicinal bottle we added an old fashioned style pin cusion to the top ..made from repro calico and vintage lace...filled with sawdust and lavender ..it's great for keeping your pins when sewing ..and it's aroma is divine.

Atop the pin cusione some we have placed some old pins ..along with a big black hook that an old round hang tag swings from and reads on it " Notions "

The front of the glass bottle we have adorned with a reproduction advertisement that reads:

~ Antique Eversharp Tailor/Seamstress Scissors ~

This Beautiful Pair of scissors are a true farmhouse find ...

They have Beautiful Ornate handles and a wonderful Patina from years of use and age.

They are made from Forged Steel and were manufactured by Eversharp.

Yes they still work Beautifully ..I did cut some fabric with them and they worked fine. Now mind they are old ..so they don't zip through like a new pair of today.

They measure: 8 inches in length.

These would make a stunning addition to your sewing nook ..and would look stunning displayed in a grouping with other antique scissors.
